21 Days of Prayer

Key Verse:

“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth and teach me,

for you are God my Savior,

and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4-5

Prompt:

This week's focus: Grow in Grace

Vocalize Psalm 25:4-5 in prayer to God – “show me your ways; teach me your paths; guide me in your truth.” Thank God for His free gift of salvation that reclaims us and sets us right with Him. Thank Him for His gift of grace that covers our sin for eternity. Thank Him for the gift of hope that buoys us all the days of our lives no matter what storms come our way.

Begin with two minutes of stillness and silence before God.

Have you ever experienced a moment of true humility? The kind that knocks you off your feet so hard you’re left wondering how you’ll even get up? I had one of those moments with my oldest son. At dinner, I was already upset because it felt like he had knocked over his 16th glass of water. Frustration got the better of me, and I let my anger take control. Less than five minutes later, I wasn’t paying attention and - wouldn’t you know it? - over my own glass of water. It was a total accident, but as I looked around the table, I could see it on everyone’s faces. In that moment, I heard the voice in my head: "You just did exactly what you got mad at him for."

Humbled, I turned to my son and apologized for letting my anger get the best of me. He smiled, and with all of the grace of a child said, "It’s okay, Mom." I’m not sure I deserved his forgiveness, but there it was, immediately and unconditionally.

I think we’ve all had these moments where we’ve been humbled by our own actions. It’s in those moments that I find myself desperately needing God's presence. Our human nature, so often governed by sin, leads us right into these situations where we’re reminded of our need for mercy.

I believe these are the moments when we most need to be on our knees before God; asking for forgiveness and pleading for clean hearts and pure minds. The beauty of the Gospel is that through what Christ did on the cross, we have direct access to God. So, even when I’m wrestling with feelings of failure, when anger has won the moment, I can cry out to a Father who loves me and will never forsake me.

Sometimes, the struggles are bigger than spilled water at the dinner table. Maybe you're facing a loved one’s battle with cancer, or mourning the loss of a relationship, or struggling after a job loss. In those painful moments, it’s essential to lean deeply into the trust we have in God. We must seek His face and rely on His guidance.

“All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.” Psalm 25:10

So, friends, rely on Him every day. Don’t hesitate or fear to come before Him with every trouble and every transgression. He is a faithful, good God who provides direction, guidance, and fresh mercies each new day. When we approach Him with sincerity, He meets us with unwavering presence.

Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
