The Protection of the Lord

Begin with two minutes of stillness and silence before God.

Have you ever felt falsely accused or judged?  Many times in life we feel judged just due to our personal choices.  Perhaps it’s regarding your parenting choices, or maybe it’s your career path.  Perhaps you feel judged in your relationships.  You might be in an awkward season of starting over or maybe you have a child going through a difficult season that lands you in the public eye.  Whatever the season you are in, trusting God’s righteousness in the middle of accusation or injustice offers a steady place to plant your feet. Psalm 7 reminds us that God is our refuge when others are against us. God assures us that He will vindicate us if we are innocent.

If you find yourself in a place of overwhelm, Psalm 8 reminds us that God’s greatness provides care for humanity.  His stewardship over all of His creation helps recenter our focus on the magnitude of His goodness.  When we are in a season of struggle, it’s easy to feel like all focus is on you.  God establishes a stronghold against your enemies.

When we set our posture to truly worship God despite our circumstances, things seem to fall more into perspective.  When we cry out to the majesty of His name, the sorrows of today seem so small.

Just as David sought protection in his time of trial, cry out to God for justice and protection in your circumstances.  Trust in the fact that God sees.  God hears.  God will act accordingly in His perfect time.  The same God who created the stars has not lost sight of you.  He values you and He will give purpose to your life.

Take two minutes to reflect in silence.
Reflection:
  • Use the S.O.A.P. Method to study God’s Word.
  • SCRIPTURE: What stands out to you in today’s passage?
  • OBSERVATION: What is this text saying? What is the context? How does it fit with the verses before and after it? Are there any commands, instructions, or promises?
  • APPLICATION: How can you apply this verse to your life? What does this mean today? What is God saying to you?
  • PRAYER: Respond to the passage in prayer. Ask God to help you apply this truth to your life and spend some time listening to what He may be telling you.
  • Prayer: Dear God, so many times we feel judged or misunderstood.  Sometimes this misunderstanding causes separation among our family or friends.  Dear Lord, help us to remember that you know the struggle and the weight of what we are carrying.  Lord, remind us how small the circumstances of today are compared to the magnitude of your goodness.  We love you so much!  Amen.
