Read Psalm 9

Head

This Psalm shows us how we can continue to praise God through tough situations. We read about the evil things people are doing, but we are reminded that The Lord reigns forever and He will not be defeated. God will judge those who have done wrong things and turned from God, but He will not abandon people who are seeking Him. David knows through it all, God will be glorified. David even says “Save me so I can praise you publicly.”

Heart

What a powerful exclamation! David is asking God to save him for the sole purpose of praising God! David knows who God is, and what God has done and has promised to do. This gives David confidence! It can give us confidence too. It’s not easy to think about praising God when we are walking through a difficult circumstance, but the more we know about God and who He is, the more confidence we have to praise him.

Hands

Reflect on the Psalms that we read this week. Review Psalms 1-9 and read through each Psalm making note of words and phrases that praise God. You can copy the verses down onto a sheet of paper or simply highlight the words/phrases that stick out to you.

Prayer: Dear Father, You are so worthy of praise! We are learning to praise You through every circumstance. It is not always easy, but we know it is worth it! Teach us how to turn our hurt into praise because You deserve it. Thank You for loving us, we love You. Amen.
