Head

In Galatians 2:11-14, we read about a disagreement between two important leaders in the early church, Paul and Peter. Peter was behaving one way with Gentile (non-Jewish) Christians but changed his behavior when Jewish Christians were around. Paul saw this and knew it was wrong. He confronted Peter because he wanted everyone to know that following Jesus means we should act truthfully and fairly, and that Jesus loves all people the same.

Heart

Sometimes, we might feel tempted to act differently depending on who we're with, just like Peter did. Maybe we act one way with our friends at school and a different way with our family at home. But God wants us to be the same loving, honest, and kind person all the time, no matter who we're with. Being a follower of Jesus means living truthfully and showing love to everyone. Let’s think about a tree. A strong tree has roots that go deep into the ground. The tree stands tall and doesn’t move, even when the wind blows really hard! Similarly when we know what’s right, we should stand strong and do what God wants us to do, even when it’s hard.

Hands

Paul’s courage to speak up and talk to Peter reminds us that it’s important to help each other stay on the right path. If we see a friend doing something wrong, we can gently and kindly help them make better choices. And if someone corrects us, we should listen and try to do better. We all need each other to grow and learn to follow Jesus more closely. God loves us and wants us to live in a way that pleases Him. When we are loving and kind and act truthfully and fairly, we show others what it means to follow Jesus. We can pray for strength and courage to do what’s right, even when it’s hard.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for loving us and teaching us what’s right. Help us to always act in a way that pleases You, no matter who we are with. Give us the courage to help our friends and to listen when others help us. Thank You for giving us examples like Paul and Peter to learn from. In Jesus' name. Amen.
