Head

When you think of the American flag, what are some things that come to your mind? Stars, stripes, red, white, and blue? America? Home? What about freedom? The American flag is a symbol of freedom in our country. Having freedom means to be able to make choices and carry them out. In our country, we have many freedoms, like going to church where we want, working jobs that we choose, being friends with whoever we want, and saying what we think is right. Freedom is a great privilege to have. But guess what? Even greater than the freedom that our flag represents, we can have another kind of freedom that is found in Jesus! In Galatians 5:1, Paul says, “For freedom, Christ set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Here, Paul is reminding us that we are all sinners, but we do not have to be slaves to our sins. When we know the right thing to do, but we continue doing the wrong thing, then we are slaves to our sin. But the good news is that we can find freedom from that through Jesus! Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. When we admit to Jesus that we have sinned and want to change, He sets us free from our sins!

Heart

Are there things that you have done that show that you are a sinner who needs freedom found in Jesus? Maybe you have been arguing with your sibling or not obeying your teacher or parent. Maybe you have not been very nice to a classmate on the playground. Jesus wants to free you from those sins!

Hands

Now, you can give those sins to Jesus. Tell Him you are sorry for the sins you have done and ask Him to help you not do them again. Jesus loves you, and He wants freedom for you!

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to give us eternal freedom. Thank You for loving me no matter what and for guiding me to do the right thing. Amen.
