Read Galatians 6:6-18
Head
We finish the rest of Galatians 6 in today’s reading continuing Paul’s letter to the people of the church of Galatia. Verses 7-10 say, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Remember, in Paul’s letters, he’s telling Christians in Galatia and Christians today how to live like Jesus... lots of things may look different 2024 years after Jesus’ crucifixion, but what Paul had to say still applies to us today!
Heart
God made all of us in His image, and from the very beginning when God created Adam, He placed him in the Garden of Eden to work and take care of the garden (Genesis 2:15). Jesus washed the feet of the disciples in John 13. God created man to have a purpose or a calling. In Galatians chapter 6, Paul reminds Christians not to get tired of doing this work that God has called us to do and that we will reap what we sow when we get to spend eternal life with him in Heaven. Think about it like this - if you’re planting a garden of watermelons, you’ve got to make sure the ground is soft and ready for the seeds. Then, you have to make sure they get plenty of water and sunshine. If you do those things, you will reap some delicious watermelon. When we do the right thing, even when it is hard or even when we are tired, God sees us. He will make sure that we reap in Heaven the things we sowed on earth.
Hands
You may be wondering what God has called you to do- don't worry, just ask a parent or a KXP leader where they think you can help! It may be something simple like bringing in a neighbor's trash can, or maybe you’re old enough to get plugged in on a Serving Team at your campus. Remember, no job is small when God is calling you to it!
Prayer: God, we thank You for creating us like You and to serve You. Please open our hearts and our eyes this week to where you want to use us, please give us courage when it feels too hard and energy when we feel too tired. We love you, Jesus. In Your name, we pray, amen.
