Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Psalm 61-62
Head
In this season of life - and I think a lot of people can relate to this - Psalm 62:1 made me stop in my tracks. It’s like I couldn’t get past it and just kept re-reading it. I'll tell you why I think that is. I suspect it’s because of that one little word we have a love/hate relationship with: rest. Regardless of age, we are all so busy all the time. And even if our bodies aren’t in motion, our brains definitely never stop! Rest is something we desperately seek but rarely find. But Psalm 62:1 tells us our souls find rest in God alone. He's the only place we can find true peace and security.
Heart
When life just feels overwhelming, David reminds us that being with God is the only way to feel any sense of calm. Talking with Him, reading His word, and worshipping Him are all ways we can spend time with Him. It doesn’t take long at all to begin to feel yourself relax. Whatever may be burdening your heart or mind, pour it all out to Him. Hand it over to Him. He’s big enough to handle it and - get this - He actually wants to handle it for you! He is our peace, our strength, and our hope.
Hands
Journal or draw about the ways God has brought peace to your life. Share your thoughts as a family and encourage one another to continue letting God give you rest.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You. Thank You for knowing that we need rest. Thank You for being the One that gives us the rest we need. Help us make a point to spend time with You daily so our souls can truly rest in You. We love You! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
