Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read Galatians 5:13-18
Head
Yesterday, we learned that we find true freedom in Jesus. In Galatians 5:13-14, Paul writes, “For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh but serve one another through love. For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Here, Paul is telling us that once we find freedom in Jesus, this does not mean that we are free to do whatever we want and whatever makes us happy. No! We are to use that freedom from sin to go out and live like Jesus! “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Does that sound familiar to you? I bet it does because guess what? We can find some form of that statement TEN times in the Bible! It sounds like God is trying to tell us something, right? To love your neighbor like yourself means to love all people; treat them how you would want to be treated, forgive them if they hurt your feelings, be helpful to them, and be kind to them.
Heart
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” These words found in Mark 12:30-31 are from Jesus himself! He is telling us that these are the two greatest commandments. How are ways that you are loving God with all your heart? How are you loving those around you like yourself?
Hands
Make a list of 5 people that you can show love to this week. This list can be people in your family, at your school, on your bus, or even at the grocery store. Think about ways that you can show love to them and make it a mission to complete your list this week!
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for being the perfect example of love for us. Please help me to love the people around me so well that they can see that Jesus has set me free. We love You, Amen.
