Justified
“Does my faith really make a difference when I need it most?”
Romans 5:2-3 NIV
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
Romans 4:25 NIV
25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
Justification - declared innocent, not guilty; pardoned
Romans 5:1-2 NIV
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Justification Gives Us:
I. Peace with God
Romans 5:2 NIV
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Justification Gives Us:
I. Peace with God
II. Access to Grace
Hebrews 4:16 NIV
16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Justification Gives Us:
I. Peace with God
II. Access to Grace
III. Hope of God
- Peace with God = God is not against me.
- Access to Grace = God is for me and with me.
- Hope of God = The previous two are always true.
Romans 5:3-5 NIV
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Because we are justified by God, we can trust God in our suffering and with our suffering.
In Suffering, We Stay Connected:
- With God
- With His Word
- With His People
