Key Verse

Ephesians 1:5 – “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.”

Who knows what adoption means? Maybe you have a friend who was adopted, or maybe you were even adopted! Adoption means that there was a family who had a home to share, help to provide, and lots of love to give to a child in need of a family. When someone is adopted, they become a member of that family- they get a seat at the table, and they are welcomed and loved forever! The Bible has a lot to say about adoption, and guess what? You and I have been chosen for adoption! Ephesians 1:5 says, “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.” Long before you were even born, God loved you and chose you to be His son or daughter! You might remember that last week we learned that when we put our faith in Jesus and accept His free gift of salvation, we become part of God’s family. Galatians 4:5 tells us that when we accept Jesus as our savior, we are adopted into His family! Jesus gives us a seat at His table, and He has a place for us in heaven, to be loved and cared for by Him forever!

Reflection

How can you live differently knowing that you are a member of God’s family? Do you feel loved? Do you know that God listens to you when you talk to Him? He is our Heavenly Father and our friend forever. He comforts us when we are hurt. He celebrates with us when we succeed. He will always be with us and never leave us!

Prayer

Dear God, thank You for loving me, choosing me, and adopting me into Your family forever! You are such a loving Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
