Welcome to our special Advent edition of the Daily Devos. Every Wednesday through the month of December we are going to pause and read together a portion of the Christmas story as we invite you to experience advent in your own story.
The word advent literally means “the arrival.” It is a way to look back and celebrate the Son of God coming to earth to be born as a baby in a manger while we also look forward to His second coming when creation will be redeemed and restored.
Each week we will discover a theme, or a promise seen in the birth of Jesus that carries us through the “already not yet” as we await the arrival of His eternal Kingdom.
So far, we have talked about HOPE through the story of Elizabeth and Zachariah, JOY through the story of Mary, and LOVE through the gift of Jesus. Today, we will finish our Advent series with PEACE and the shepherds praising the son of God.
Grab a Bible and turn to Luke 2.

Remember:
- The HOPE, JOY, LOVE, and PEACE that we focus on at Christmas isn’t meant to stop in December. The whole point is to understand that Christmas marks the beginning of a daily experience with the Son of God present in our lives.
- I hope you have enjoyed our walk through the Advent season!
- Don’t forget this Sunday, December 29, across all of Venture Church, we will be online only. So, make sure you join us at online.venturechurch.org (link) for a special time of worship and a message as we get ready for the new year.
